Career Moves 2025
Cheryl Grimaldi
It's interesting that a lot of these so-called market trend articles say the same thing. The market is ‘slowing’ but not really. Things are still better than pre-pandemic levels. Let me tell you this - no matter what is going on in the market, you can always find a job. Yes, do the basic things this article tells you - make sure your LinkedIn is cleaned up. Your resume is geared toward the position you are applying for etc, etc, etc.
But here is the deal - if you want to work - you better hustle. You need to set yourself apart from the competition. Get in early, stay late, work holidays, get noticed. The days of remote work, in most cases, are over - get in the office - look good and put together. Ask what you can do to improve - take criticism - work on yourself. Do work others won’t. Offer suggestions -don’t get bummed if they are not implemented - keep at it.
When interviewing, ask better questions. ‘What can I do to make your life easier?’ ‘What can I do to help the company achieve its goals?’ ‘What can I do to immediately come in and make a difference?’
Send an email thank you note- without typos. Send a handwritten thank you note, too. When you get the job ask what you can start doing immediately to start learning to be prepared for your start date.
The world is no longer about making it easy for you - it’s time we start contributing to the world, and the best way to do that is through your career and the investment you make in your company.
