Important Career Skills

By Cheryl Grimaldi

One of the most fascinating articles I’ve read recently came from Fast Company — and it zeroed in on what employers are really looking for right now.

Resilience.

Not just experience.

Not just pedigree.

Not just the perfect résumé.

In interviews, employers are listening closely for how you’ve handled challenges, uncertainty, and change. They want real stories — moments when things didn’t go as planned, and you adapted, learned, and kept going.

Resilience shows how you lead under pressure.

How you respond when the path shifts.

And how you’ll show up when work gets hard — because it always does.

If you’re interviewing, don’t just talk about what you’ve done. Talk about what you’ve overcome.

So let me ask you:

What’s your resilience story?

The job market continues to be intense and competitive, so you’re wise to consider hiring trends and how you can best prepare and set yourself apart.
